1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

Sellers provide: name, company name, email address, phone number, machine details, location, and photos. This information is used to create and manage your listing.

Buyers provide: name, company name, email address, phone number, and the message attached to an inquiry. This information is used to process your inquiry and — when a connection is initiated — to introduce you to the relevant seller.

Account holders additionally provide: email address and password (stored as a salted hash). We do not store payment card numbers directly; payment processing is handled by our payment processor.

Information collected automatically

We collect standard server log data including IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session and remember your preferences.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Publish and manage machine listings
• Route buyer inquiries to the appropriate listing
• Facilitate introductions between buyers and sellers when a transaction is initiated
• Send transactional emails (listing confirmations, inquiry notifications, connection introductions)
• Process and hold payments in escrow during the inspection window
• Resolve disputes between buyers and sellers
• Maintain the security and integrity of the platform
• Comply with applicable legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your information for behavioral advertising.

3. Seller Information Is Private

Seller contact information — including email address, phone number, company name, and location — is never displayed publicly on the platform. It is visible only to Yellow Iron administrators and, once a connection is initiated, to the specific buyer involved in that transaction.

Listing content (machine details, parts, photos, and location state) is publicly visible by design, as it is necessary for buyers to evaluate listings.

4. Buyer Information Is Private

Buyer contact information submitted with an inquiry — including name, email, phone, and company — is never displayed publicly. It is visible only to Yellow Iron administrators. Buyer information is shared with a seller only when a connection is formally initiated by Yellow Iron, and only with the seller relevant to that specific transaction.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the platform:

• Supabase — database and file storage (machine photos). Data is stored on Supabase-managed infrastructure.
• Resend — transactional email delivery. Email content necessary to fulfill the transaction is shared with Resend for delivery purposes.
• Stripe Connect — payment processing and escrow. Financial data is handled directly by Stripe; Yellow Iron does not store payment card numbers or bank account details.
• Vercel — hosting and CDN. Vercel receives standard request metadata as part of serving the application.

Each of these providers has their own privacy policy governing their handling of data. We encourage you to review them if you have questions about how your data is processed downstream.

6. Data Retention

Listing data is retained as long as the listing is active and for a reasonable period afterward for recordkeeping. Inquiry data is retained for the duration of the inquiry lifecycle and for dispute resolution purposes. Account data is retained until you request deletion.

7. Cookies

We use session cookies to keep you logged in and to maintain state across page loads. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but doing so may prevent certain features (such as staying logged in) from working correctly.

8. Children's Privacy

This platform is intended for business use by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
